One last bite in Bari: Private Guided Food Tour

Start the day with a street food walking tour in Bari, the regional capital of Puglia.

Explore the historic city centre and visit some of the famous sights including the Basilica of Saint Nicolas and the Cathedral of Saint Sabino - both built in the beautiful Apulian­ Romanesque style-, the Swabian Castle, the great Petruzzelli Theater - one of the most famous in Italy - and the colourful fish market where fishermen have on offer everything caught locally that day.

Take a leisurely walk through Arco Basso street, where the elderly housewives still prepare the traditional homemade "orecchiette" - a very typical pear-shaped type of pasta - right in front of you just like in the olden days. Walking along the narrow streets of Bari we will sample some typical street foods like the famous “focaccia”, a yummy, soft and crispy snack that local people enjoy with the local beer Peroni”.

Impossible to resist! We will also taste the “sgagliozze”, deep-fried polenta cubes, and  “panzerotti” ­fried calzone made from yeast dough and filled with tomatoes and mozzarella and a special coffee or artisanal gelato.
